Teachers Should Put Students First
"Runner Fan", nickname of Fan Meizhong, who ran out of the classroom leaving his students behind during the May 12 earthquake, has caused a controversy concerning traditional Chinese values. Many people regard his action as wrong and a direct violation of teachers responsibility and I would have to agree with them.
Firstly, it is the responsibility of a teacher to protect his students safety by la Being concerned solely fol his own life and leaving his students behind while fleeing violates the spirit of the la In an emergency, each teacher is responsible for the direct supervision of his students. Furthermore, it will be of great help if they can direct the evacuation of their students to designated assembly areas in accordance with warning signals and written notification. It is out of the question that they should not remain with their students until rescue crews arrive. Secondly, teachers act as a role model for their students. The Compulsory Education Law does stipulate that “a teacher should be a model of virtue for others and should be devoted to the education of the people." Teachers not only teach students how to think, but also how to behave to support others in society. Fleeing the classroom and leaving the students behind in an emergency sets a bad example for students.
To conclude, teachers are responsible for students safety in an emergency. Teachers are expected to demonstrate responsible behaviour and they ought to be specifically trained to deal with emergency situations.

Should English Classes Be Compulsory for Students
Should English Classes Be Compulsory for Students
Most universities in China have made English a compulsory course, which has aroused many complaints among students. Many students wish that English could be removed from the list of compulsory courses.
However, I think it is of great significance for all university students to study English. To begin with, as an international language, English is widely used. Today, university students must master the language if they are to communicate with foreigners and to participate in the fierce competition in the future. In addition, studying English as a foreign language does not only provide students with a useful tool for communication, but also open a door to cultures different from our own. As is universally acknowledged, mutual understanding among different cultures is vital for keeping the world safe and peaceful.
Therefore, I strongly recommend that all students take advantage of the compulsory course, and try to study English well.

Universities Should Reward Blood Donors
Should university students be rewarded for donating blood or should they do it out of altruistic reasons? As far as I am concerned, I believe that students should not make the donation merely in order to obtain rewards. Yet, institutions ought to devise some incentives to promote blood donation.
To begin with, the act in question is to help or even save the lives of people in need. In view of the notion that prize and punishment should be meted out accordingly, donors should be rewarded for their selflessness. Second, the implementation of various incentives also serves to encourage students to donate blood. As the saying goes, "One good turn deserves another." Even if donors do demand some repayment, it is utterly justified. Meanwhile, the establishment of the incentive policy also reinforces an advantageous societal system where good deeds are encouraged. Nevertheless, the foregoing points do not justify able-bodied students eschewing blood donation if no rewards are offered. Otherwise, our world would be replete with mercenary individuals; and no society can survive let alone thrive when it is corrupted with selfishness.
In the final analysis, students should make donations in an altruistic fashion".However, universities ought to present some rewards to express their gratitude. (205 words)

The Purpose of College Education
Nowadays, with the policyof collegeenrollment expansion inChina, higher education is nolonger the privilege only enjoyed byminorities. The past decade has witnessed a steady increase in the percentageof people owning college diploma, from 8.3% to 23.5%.
However, every coin has two sides. Everyyear so many graduates pour into the employmentmarket and greatlyintensify the competition in job market. Plenty of themremain unemployed. Consequently, the concept of “uselessness of study”prevails among the people who adoptanegative attitude toward higher education and believe it futile to pursue a degree.
As far as I am concerned, the purposeof university education is not only to equip studentswith knowledgeandprofessionalskills, butto cultivatequalified citizenstodealwith variouschallenges with full developed character and talent. Therefore, as college students, we shouldvalue the learning opportunity to perfect ourselves for the future competition.

There are many advantages for a student to have a part time job. For instance, it helps him to realize that no success comes from nothing. It enables him to be independent and builds up his self-confidence.
Therefore, part-time jobs can get the students out of the ivory tower and give them the opportunity to know more of himself and of his personal value in society. As everything has two sides, the disadvantages can’t be ignored. Part-time jobs cut into students’ study time; some even become so preoccupied with making money that they ca ‘t focus their attention on studying. In the end, the students may fall behind or fail in their studies. In my opinion, students can choose to take up a job according to their own situation.
The most important thing is for him to keep a good balance, put his study on top of the list and assign an adequate amount of time to it.

In the black and white drawing above,a youth gravely contemplates a narrow winding path heading into a forest。 Perhaps he thinks that his own future may be much like this path;full of bends and curves, thorns and traps。 The road to success is never anything but uneven and difficult。
In fact, one could even say that the more successful one"s life is,the more problems and hardships one must have overcome。 The ability to work through difficult situations and unfortunate events only makes one stronger and more capable。 Given that the road to happiness always contains obstacles and setbacks,we should be well prepared for the hardships that life inevitably brings, and abandon the idea that life is smooth or easy。 We must accept the fact that failures are unavoidable, whether they are failures in examinations,in finding a job,or carrying out a task。 People who accept that their life will not always be simple or calm are better able to handle problems when they arise。 Those who are upset by each and every small setback — and there are many people with such attitudes— do not have much potential。 Failure is mother to success as it can strengthen one"s will。 Those who can draw lessons from failure are destined for success。

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Living in the 21st century(生活在21世纪的优缺点)
Living in the 21st century offers certain advantages, such as a higher standard of living, but it also has some disadvantages, such as a polluted environment.
To begin with, most people now have more money for less hard work. They earn higher salaries than before and enjoy better social security, such as social welfare for laid-off workers and disability insurance.
Secondly, because of the advance in medical technology which leads to better medical care and treatment, people’s life expectancy is longer. Moreover, most people now can afford to buy foods of high nutrition and enjoy their leisure time.

Manypeopledieformoney,lieformoney,fightformoney,andevenselltheirsoulstotheDevilformoney.

Advertisement. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below in Chinese:
Advertisements are forcing their way into people’s lives. People refer to advertisements in their daily lives because they are consumers. The advertisers are usually manufacturers, retailers and salesmen. Their .
.merchandise needs to be advertised to bring it to the attention to the customers. Thus nearly every product is advertised in some way. To a large extent, good advertising leads to success while bad advertising can mean failure. There are many ways to advertise and ‘ads’ e in different forms. Newspapers carry advertisements. Some products are publicized on TV and radio which bring them into notice of a wide audience. Billboards also carry advertising. Advertising is a big industry now and many agencies have been set up to furnish a variety of forms.. However, advertising is not always truthful. A product is often misrepresented. The advertiser exaggerates the benefits of the merchandise he wants to sell. Thus, he misrepresents the truth. The consumer falls victim to such advertising. Millions of people have bought advertised products and have been dissatisfied with them。

My Dormitory Life My Dormitory Life Compared with the forty year old shabby dormitory I am living in now, the one I lived in for three years in high school was heaven: three students shared one brand new suite with air conditioners and a bathroom. In three years time we changed it thoroughly:the color of the floor turned from bright pink into muddy gray, and the closet a hive of insects proliferating among piles of rotten fruit. And our masterpiece was the bathroom, a never drying swamp which served as the habitat of various kinds of mold, and even rodents, rats would occasionally take the trouble to pay us a visit, and.., all three of us felt like sobbing when we at last had to say good bye to our lovely filthy dormitory. Maybe it is because that the dormitory had changed us as well as we'd changed it. The first lesson our dormitory taught us was to look after ourselves. Frankly speaking, we
were not good students at all. I still remember the underwear that was soaked in soapy water for one and a half years before it was finally thrown away. Almost each of the boys' dormitories had gradually developed its own unique "fragrance" usually a mixture of rotten fruit, unwashed socks, stunk towels and some junk food. We could tell one dormitory from another by sniffing instead of looking. Our tolerance towards untidiness was amazing. However, in spite of all this, we really did make some progress. Bit by bit, we started to wash dirty clothes before they stunk, cleaned the garbage bin when it could hold no more trash, we even used brushes in a not-sc-successful attempt to refurbish the floor. The point was that we were not obeying any order, we did every bit of the cleaning for ourselves, because we wanted to live in a better place. Though nothing we did could be called an achievement, it was the first time we fully bore the consequences of our behavior, and took the responsibility. Thus it was not surprising that I often found myself the only one
to clean up my university dormitory which looked no better than a garbage bin when my roommates felt normal of it. When talking about our dormitory life, and probably all the dormitory life, we should never leave out one thing. This was what we called "bed talks". Though it was considered "illegal,"there was nothing to stop us from deliberately starting a heated discussion right after lights were out. It was our favorite and the only way of ending our day, and we were as punctual for it as our parents are for work. What was the most common topic?Girls, of course! What other topics were there for three energetic adolescent males lying comfortably in bed? We judged them, ranked them, argued over them night after night without feeling the slightest sense of boredom for three whole years. Were we maniacs? Who is not a maniac at eighteen?

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled Post-holiday Syndrome Among Students. You should write at least 150 words following the outline given below.
Post-holiday Syndrome Among Students With the gloomy prospect of returning to school, many students could suffer from post-holiday syndrome, which refers to a general feeling of depression before returning to campus life, which is caused by irregular lifestyles during the holiday. Symptoms include fatigue, lack of appetite and concentration, irritability and a feeling of helplessness. Various reasons can account for it. But most important of all, a large number of students tend to overindulge themselves in eating, merrymaking and playing around during the holidays, which makes it difficult to adjust to their routine study schedule and life pace on the campus. My suggestions to deal with this syndrome are as follows. First, exercising and sticking to a normal schedule over the holidays will make a difference and nip post-holiday syndrome in the bud. Besides, it pays to return a few days earlier before the semester starts. The early return seems to have kept the holiday blues at bay.
