　　Ladies and gentlemen: good morning! today, the title of my speech is improving beijings environment for the olympics. have you ever seen animals cry? do you know what makes them cry? its the polluted world, a dirty world, caused by our irresponsible behaviors, that makes those lovely animals cry. many of us are smart enough to know how terrible it is to have a world without animals and plants. but some people still persist in ma-ki-ng the same errors and harming the environment.

　　Whats worse is that people are eating wild animals. those people dont know, and more importantly, they dont want to know. this kind of behavior has caused some specific problems. for example, medical experts have suggested that eating wild animals helped spread the terrible disease sars. now, our world is no longer clean and beautiful. why? because air, water, and noise pollution has become more and more serious. noise pollution makes us talk more loudly and become angry more easily. water pollution makes our rivers and lakes very dirty. air pollution is the most serious kind of pollution. both air pollution and water

　　Pollution are not only dangerous to our health, but also dangerous to animals and plants. were destroying our only world. a large number of trees have been cut down, so a lot of lands have been turned into deserts. pollution can be seen everywhere! unquestionably it is essential that we clean up our environment. sadly, weve not always appreciated the importance of protecting the environment. on the streets, you can see cars producing smog. in the bathrooms, you can see students leaving the water tap on after using them. not only the young people, but also the elderly ones throw Things everywhere without thinking its wrong, even in a beautiful park. these things are taking place every day, even in modern cities like beijing. we cant do that any more. we must learn how to protect the environment. if everyone is aware of protecting it instead of destroying it, the world can become cleaner, more beautiful, and more peaceful. the theme of beijing xx olympic games is "new peking, new olympic". its the target owned by every chinese. we should try our best to improve beijings environment for olympics. Lets begin to act! first, start with the things around you. dont throw rubbish onto the road. dont talk loudly when you are outdoors. turn off the water tap after using it. go to school by bike or by bus instead of by private car. save your pocket money and contribute to environmental protection organizations. take me as an example, i take action in order to make our only world full of happiness. i pick up rubbish and throw it into a trashcan. i collect waste pa-pe-r or bottles for recycling. i plant more trees and flowers, and so on. if you do all these things just like me, it means you have done something useful to improve the environment. were grateful, because the emblem of the beijing xx olympic games is a precious treasure dedicated to the olympic movement by the people of china. under the guidance of the olympic spirit, let us do a better job in all fields of our preparation and venue construction work in an efficient way. we will combine the olympic movement with the latest technology and

We breathe polluted air, making us suffer from lung and liver diseases. Besides, because of it, the flights have to be canceled. All kind of transports may run into each other, resulting in much damages and lots of injuries.

　　As far as I am concerned, it is high time that we did something. As individuals, we should ride the underground or buses instead of cars to reduce carbon dioxide. As government, more measures should be taken by carrying out the related law on pollution.

Today, standing here makes me feel really honored and excited.The title of my speech is Classifying Rubbish , Improving Environment. Personally, rubbish has been a big headache in Beijing. As the year 20xx iscoming ,every citizen has realized Green Beijing and Green Olympics will bringthe far-reaching impact on Beijing and even all China . The scense of rubbishnearly everywhere has given all of us a really bad impression, and Im sure noneof us wish to show off the bad side of Beijing to athletes and journalists allover the world, for it would blemish the citys and even Chinas image and leave abad reputation. So we really have to work hard on Green Olympics. Now, we are middle school students. We must improve the sense of protectingthe environment and make a contribution to Green Olympics . In our life, a lot of rubbish , such as waste paper, plastic bottles,batteries and so on , is produced every day . After we learnt the passage MakeOur Environment More Beautiful , we found a lot of rubbish thrown into dustbinscould be recycled in fact during our discussion. So we thought it would bebetter if we could classify rubbish . we told our idea to our teacher and hesupported us very much . We became volunteers to classify rubbish . Firstly wegot three big boxes and put them in a corner of our classroom . One is for wastepaper , one for plastics and Coke cans and the other is for batteries . WithTeachers help ,soon all the students took part in the activity of classifyingrubbish .In a month , we collected three boxes of paper , a box of batteries anda box of plastics and Coke cans .We sold them for 28 yuan and bought some youngtrees with the money . We planted the trees around our school . We were allspoken highly of by our school principals. Now we keep on the job and are allproud of improving environment . The world trusts Beijing .Beijing still has a lot to do to reach the levelthe world expects, but we have the confidence to make Beijing a Green City.Great changes are taking place, and not far in the future, Beijing will be thefocus of all worlds attention. 　　We live in the world every day. We eat food, drink water, wear clothes, watch TV, use computers and so on. We are producing waste every moment. Generally speaking, there are four sorts of waste. They are material waste, organic waste, inorganic waste and poisonous & harmful waste. Now, we are going to talk about each sort of waste one by one. Material waste: it means the waste of substance or things from which something else can be made. For example, people throw away the used metal products and buy a new one, so the old metal waste accumulates. At last, they become waste. For example, when people finish reading newspaper, the paper will become waste. When the glass is broken, it also becomes waste. Nobody wants to use a broken window or drink with a broken glass or wear a pair of broken glasses. Once it is broken, it becomes waste. The rate of using plastics is increasing day by day. People use plastic bags because they are convenient. When they get home, they throw the plastics way, paying no attention to the environment. The more convenience plastics brings to us, the more plastic waste is produced. This is called “white pollution” as most plastics are white. Some of our products we use every day are made of rubber, just like the tyres and the bottom part of our shoes. It’s true that rubber plays an important role in our life. However, it also brings us some trouble when it has been used for a long time and becomes old. The old tyres become waste because it can’t break down by nature. This is really a big problem.

In theearly years the Chinese cut down large quantities of trees, at the source of theyellow river, which led to the disappearance of big forests and terrible floods.As a result,the Huangtu plateau which was once covered with grass and forestswas turned into barrens that supported fewer plants. Because many chemical factories dischargedpoisonous gas without filtering it, cities were covered with so much poisonousgas that people were killed by the air they breathed in. What horriblescene! What we are suffering is only a small part of what the nature oncesuffered. If we don’t take action to show respect to the environment, we willhave to face an increasingly awful situation. Measures should be taken to protect the environment on which we arerelying. First governments should forbid destroying vegetation, rivers andlakes, oceans, as and the atmosphere as well. Second voices should be made toannounce the public of the importance of protecting the environment. Thirdenterprises should pay special attention to the effect they have on theenvironment and work out solutions for the problems.Only by changing the way wetreat the environment can we get along well with it. Only by saving theenvironment can we save ourselves. Harmony with the environment is that we live in on Earth, who is a naturalson, and not only to natural persons as the conqueror, as we all know, there isonly one earth and the mountains on Earth, the animals. Plant human cells, if it damaged, destroyed nature organizations, to theeradication of mankind. Therefore, the environment must be linked with socialethics, character education and practice acts as an important element of it.Everyone must fulfil its responsibilities and obligations to protect theenvironment.
